Hi
This is the link to the map I created on Google maps for year 11 fieldwork.
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?hl=en&ie=UTF8&msa=0&msid=103248955610620708717.000491dab088eb335fdcb&ll=51.534377,-0.00721&spn=0.020075,0.043688&z=14
Please look at and enjoy yr 11!
This is a site for Eltham Hill Geographers! You can ask questions, view pictures, video's and hopefully eventually access worksheets, powerpoints and all sorts! Of course, if your not from/related to Eltham Hill you can still join!
Welcome!
Ok, this has been running for a little while now. I have added all sorts over the last couple of years. Please feel free to recommend links/information to me that I can add - I'd like to get students involved in the up-keep of it to make it more student focused.
I will keep adding things as I see them!
I hope you enjoy, let's see how this goes!

Population Dynamics... ageing populations
Welcome back to Eltham Hill's Geography Blog - I'm sorry I have not updated for so long. So much to do, so little time to do it!
Anyway, I thought I would start off, hopefully updating once a day with things that will be useful for my students.
My new year ten group, who are so far lovely, are studying population dynamics. Here are two very interesting articles I saw on the BBC website earlier. China's pension system waltzes into crisis: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11288492##
Ageing populations and fewer workers strain pensions: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11281670
Please think about what futher problems an ageing/youthful population may bring.
Good stuff, over and out for now!

1GOAL

All students are getting involved with the 1GOAL campaign over the next few weeks.
Please take some time to go check out:
It is linked with the millennium development goals and making sure that all children have access to an education. A matter that I support and hope the girls will join in supporting with me.
Tomorrow I am launching a competition.
Design a section of a supporter scarf using A4 paper (landscape) and show why education is important and why we should aim for all kids to go to school in the world. I am aiming to collect as many signatures as possible - friends and family, please get involved!!!!! Please submit your sections of the scarf to me by the 9th July and on the 12th I will announce winners and send the scarf off to parliament. 1GOAL is in conjunction with the Football Worldcup and you will see it in the press over the next 4 weeks!
Please get involved!

Trading Game...
Sorry for the loooonnnnnngggg amount of time it has been since I last posted. It has been a very hectic few months. Now that year 11 have left us ( insert sad face!) I have a little more time on my hands.

Today was the day of the Trading Game! I ran this down at our second site with the whole of year 9! Not all in one go, we had 3 sessions with between 60-70 girls in each session! It was a fab day, exhausting but Year 9 really were well behaved!
Trying to get 60 screaming, competing girls took its toll by session 3, luckily I had Hayley to use her LOUD voice to quieten the rest of her group down! Naideene spent the whole two hours trying to suss me out and work out how she could make more mone, and Olachi stayed behind to talk a little more about the game as she had enjoyed it so much!!!!!!! This definitely is why I came into teaching.
In the images you can see students getting stuck in, either banking their shapes or trading items. I have never seen year 9 quite so focused! Some students, really surprised me!
Thank you to year 9 who worked so well today - I hope you enjoyed it! And thanks to EHX and Ms Sanders who helped me set up and have a awesome day!
