Welcome!

Ok, this has been running for a little while now. I have added all sorts over the last couple of years. Please feel free to recommend links/information to me that I can add - I'd like to get students involved in the up-keep of it to make it more student focused.

I will keep adding things as I see them!

I hope you enjoy, let's see how this goes!

Citizenship..... Year 10

Hi there!

Miss Chandler was telling me today about a year 10 lesson that she did where she incorporated Twitter. I do have a twitter account, although to date I have found no real use for this! However, the citizenship twitter idea really struck me as fantastic!

http://citizenshipfoundation.org.uk/blogs/main/2009/05/06/today-i-took-part-in-a-citizenship-lesson-via-twitter/

It has also been blogged about by Michael Grimes and I think with a little refining this could be a fantastic idea!

I tried to find the twitter account earlier, but in my haste could not remember the name! I'm hoping Miss Chandler will tell me again!

Iwas a fantastic idea and not only that but it was all to do with Geography as well! Discussing the topic of Sustainable development and Climate Change.

Good stuff... keep posted for links to the twitter page!

Rainforest SOS

Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Prince William and Prince Harry, Joss Stone, Prince Charles and Kermit the frog also .... featuring Frog!

We must act now, future generations will depend on the rainforests that we are so busy destroying today. Below is the video campagin that features all and more of the above artists.. we must take care of it!

Watch it, listen to it, change it. Stop the destruction and try to protect your forest. If ever there was a time where it is important to be a active citizen.... it's now!

Miss Udy (thanks to other Miss Udy for reminding me!)

UK man lands 'world's best job'

This is fabulous news!!!!!

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/8035168.stm

Ben Southall, 34, a charity fundraiser from Petersfield, Hampshire has been appointed the new caretaker of an Australian tropical island, a six-month position described as "the best job in the world".
He was up against over 34,000 applicants!

Petersfield is my home town so of course I am very pleased!

I certainly wish I could have that job!

Well done to Ben!

Year 8 - London 2012

Lesson 2!

This is Lesson 2 (and it ran into a 3rd lesson) which was about being able to Imagine place.
http://www.geographyteachingtoday.org.uk/ks3-resources/resource/london-2012/

This is where the scheme of work comes from, I have slightly adapted it and created this second PowerPoint to go along with the scheme.

Again, we used interactive resources and the London 2012 website to gain further information.

The homework for last week for year 8 and 9 was to write a 200 newsround style report about the Olympic Games. If possible it needed to include the advatages and disadvantages.

W:\Geography\Yr 11 CU\Tourism and Recreation is the file path for you. You should be able to access this from home as well as school.
Focus on the last slide in each PowerPoint as this has a recap slide of all the important information ;)

The web address to get the pre-release material for your exam on the 2nd June is:http://www.edexcel.com/quals/gcse/gcse-leg/geography/geo-b/Pages/default.aspx

You can access some past papers, the pre-release material as well as specifications and mark schemes. Make use of it!!!!!!

Lastly - your homework.

Make sure you complete a table to show the advatages and disadvantages of the options. You will need these to answer some example questions next lesson.
